The Convergence Objective of the Structural Funds constitutes the main priority of the European Union's cohesion policy also in the period 2007-2013. This is why 57.2% of Structural Funds credits are aimed at recovery of the most disadvantaged regions, known as "Convergence regions", with a gross domestic product (GDP) of less than 75% of the community average.
Spain will receive Convergence Objective resources for an amount of 18,752 million euros (10.7% of the total assigned to this Objective) between 2007 and 2013. Four regions of Spain (Andalusia, Castile-La Mancha, Extremadura and Galicia) benefit from these resources.
