The Fund of Investments in Teruel (FIT) is aimed at financing investments in business infrastructure and development in the province of Teruel. It was created to compensate the fact that the Autonomous Region of Aragon, not being a beneficiary of the FCI because of its level of income, shows significant inter-territorial imbalances on which regional policy cannot act effectively with the mechanisms generally available. This is why, in this context, the province of Teruel should be the target of public action to improve its endowment of productive capital and its level of income.
On 12 March 2007, a collaboration agreement was signed between the General Administration of the State (Ministry of Economy and Treasury) and the General Committee of Aragon for financing investments in the province of Teruel in the period 2007-2011 (Official State Bulletin no. 101, of 27 April 2007). In each budgetary year between 2007 and 2011, the FIT will provide 60 million euros, 50% being contributed by each Administration.
