The performance reserve, a new feature added to the 2000-2006 programming period, is set down in article 44 of Regulation 1260/1999. It consists of reserving 4.16% from commitment appropriations, from the indicative shares allocated to each country, which are earmarked to reward the sound management of Operational Programmes.
