ITI for the province of Teruel

An Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) is a territorial development tool that enables the implementation of a territorial strategy with the aim of providing a response to the specific needs or challenges of this territory. It is, therefore, a management tool, defined in Regulation (EU) Nº 1303/2013, which permits a territorial approach in the development and implementation of public policies. Thus, within the framework of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF), the resources that support a specific ITI may be drawn from:

  • More than one priority axis within a programme
  • Several programmes financed by the same fund, or
  • Several programmes financed by various funds
The main objective of the ITI for the province of Teruel is to encourage initiatives that seek to identify solutions to address the province's demographic challenges in terms of ageing, low density and the distribution of settlements.

The search for a demographic balance is one of the initiative's main objectives, to this end establishing the need to improve the population structure of the province's settlements, in particular in rural areas, prioritising the young and female population, creating the conditions required to moderate the trend of excessive concentration of the population by improving and enhancing quality as part of the provision of services offered in rural areas, placing particular emphasis on education, health and social services.

Activities to be performed as part of the ITI for Teruel form part of the 2014-2020 FEDER-FSE Operational Programmes for Aragon.
