An Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) is a territorial development tool that enables the implementation of a territorial strategy with the aim of providing a response to the specific needs or challenges of this territory. It is, therefore, a management tool, defined in Regulation (EU) Nº 1303/2013, which permits a territorial approach in the development and implementation of public policies.
Thus, within the framework of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF), the resources that support a specific ITI may be drawn from:
- More than one priority axis within a programme
- Several programmes financed by the same fund, or
- Several programmes financed by various funds
The implementation of the Cádiz ITI is due to the situation in the region, which suffered a significant setback as a result of the economic crisis, more severe than in other territories, and further aggravated by the position of Cádiz, which lags behind the rest of Andalucía and Spain. The aim of the Cádiz ITI is to reduce the social and economic gap through the combination of different funds and programmes in the province.
