South West Europe

The Territorial Cooperation Programme of the Southwest European Area (SUDOE) supports regional development through the co-financing of transnational projects by means of the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund).

The public agents of the Spanish, French, Portuguese and British (Gibraltar) regions may contribute to the growth and sustainable development of this Southwest European Area by developing transnational cooperation projects in the field of innovation, the environment, new information technologies and sustainable urban development.

By working together, these regional agents help the European Southwest to achieve European Union strategies in the sphere of growth, employment and sustainable development.

The main objective pursued for developing a strategy that will maximize its strong points and correct its weaknesses is to consolidate the European Southwest as a Territorial Cooperation Area in the areas of competitiveness and innovation, the environment, sustainable development and spatial planning, which will contribute towards assuring harmonious and balanced integration of its regions, within the EU economic and social cohesion objectives.
