Approved by the European Commission on 25 October 2007, the Spain-Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013 promotes the development of the border areas between Spain and Portugal, strengthening the economic relations and cooperation networks existing between the five Areas defined in the Programme.
This Programme takes advantage of the extensive current cooperation networks that have been undergoing development since 1989, with execution of material infrastructure projects, which have gradually been joined by such other sectors as tourism, social services, the environment, technological innovation, health, education or culture.
